Actually today's hare is the reigning Mr.Puniverse Hash Malaysia.

Run highlights:  First runner 7:10pm 3 checks, last one had a false-T that messed up the front runners. All in a good run.

Circle highlights: Duration 1 hour 15 mins. Eric Yew was given the hash name "You Listen"

Video - You Listen's coronation

"After" GM had conferred Eric's hash name, -------- at min 1:57 of the above video, V Power asked GM what was Eric's hash name.

Hey, V Power either you didn't "LISTEN" or you were dumbfounded by this absurd name and making sure your hearing didn't fail you! From the video it it was probably the latter!

Naming a person is not based on what is in vogue (at min 1:31 of the video GM said this name is in vogue in Cantonese) but what is reflective or descriptive of the hasher, and preferably "uplifting" rather than derogatory to the hasher.

We must uplift our members and build them up.  WHY? To build our own destiny, we must be a builder of men.  Not by tearing them, knowingly or unknowingly.

Who cares if other hash chapters have names like PHUCK YOU, SCREW YOU or DIU NIA ^^%. We are and should be different and have reverence for names. There is a significance attached to our names. Our parents painstakingly took the time to give us meaningful and blessed names to give us a good start to our future. Why not for GH5 new members' hashing future?

V Power in GM's defense said Eric could have got a name like CCB, but do we need to and will we allow ourselves to go down to this level? Do we need to consent ourselves like apes? (On Sec is no holds barred).

In any organization or system, we build those below us,  and once we have built them up, naturally we will also be builted and uplifted. To build your own destiny, be  a builder of men!

To build men, give them names that will develop and bring out the best in them. I was named Incredible Hulk on May 2011. Having been given that name, when Bengkok collapsed in June 15, 2011, I had to live up to my name sake and gave him CPR and helped carry his corpse out of the jungle. If you named me Humpty Dumpty, I won't have the ommmpphh.

When other hashers ask Eric what is his name, he will have to rudely stare at them and say "You Listen". Remember as King Solomon said in Proverbs 18: 21;

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit."

What comes out of our mouth will affect us.

For instance, give a new member the name SOH HAI, and we keep calling him SOH HAI and he just might eventually be ...a SOH HAI. How uplifting, how exhorting and exalting it is for the new member!

Names are not just descriptive or reflective of a person, but will have a bearing on a person's  future direction,  outcome and destiny. Names and words have power. And I don't agree that it is just "HASH"and no need to be serious coz to a lot of us the bulk of our lives evolve around hashing.

As King Solomon said " life and death are in the power of the tongue".
