This is a classic that nearly every student in the western world receiving an English-based education would have read when I was in primary school. I am not sure what is the status today, but I was in school during the cold war era which made it a popular text book.
Animal Farm is an allegorical novella by George Orwell published in England on 17 August 1945. According to Orwell the book reflects events leading up to the Russian Revolution of 1917, and then on into the Stalin era in the Soviet Union.
It is a satirical piece that exposes the corruption, wickedness and indifference of the ruling elite to the commoners, and how they they deviated from their initial maxims and rules and manipulated so called ideals into malleable propaganda.
