This check list was provided by our ex-GM V Power and was circulated a year or two ago.
Setting Good, Safe and Satisfying Runs
- Good and fast runner does not necessary make a good run setter
- Do not take safety for "granted"
- Virgin/inexperience hare best to ask help when setting a run
- Ensure all members and guest sign in and out
- Always take enough papers in when setting a run
- Plan your run and run your plan....recce ahead of time
- Effective checks contribute a lot to a good run...it is not about the distance, it is about good checks and variety of trails
- Good checks enable slow hashers to catch up
- Interesting, exciting and adventurous runs with good checks makes the run more satisfying
- The run length of time for a family club like GH5 should be 1 hour or 1 hour 15 mins for front runners
- Have sweepers available and brief your sweepers the run trail
- Hare to help On-Cash identify their guests when collecting guest fee also advise their guest to practice decorum and respect the circle
- Guest fee RM30 p/guest: includes one beer, unlimited mineral water and 100-plus. Note: only to be consumed at run site
- Hare to ensure GH5 signages are up to direct hashers to run site
- Hare to confirm run site location way ahead of time and to submit to On-Sec
- Hare to advise caterers to use recyclable cutleries etc
- The hare is responsible for Search Team. Search Team is advised to go in 2 hours after the last runner is out (if there is a need to go in earlier, case to case is considered)
- Hare is encouraged to go in to set run. It is the hare's responsibility to ensure that the appointed run setters are briefed and adhere to all the above guidelines
- Be creative, refer to the above guidelines at all times and we will be able to achieve safe, satisfying, good sweat-out runs and most importantly keep together.
