TYPES OF SUPPLEMENTS


The list of supplements we will go through is by no means exhaustive. Some are registered as food supplements while others are classified as traditional medicine.

I will try to cover what is available in the Malaysian market. It will be in three points.

FACTS: What we know about the product.

CLAIMED BENEFITS: Food supplements are not to have any medical claims. Any claims will make the product a pharmaceutical drug and require full clinical trials. So what I will do is to spell out what people believe they are taking these supplements for and how it may benefit them, rightly or wrongly, and what people are claiming.

RIGHT AMOUNT: The recommended dose, though not definitive as it varies with manufacturers
