Another safety warning!

There are certain guidelines that we must follow to ensure that hashing remains a safe activity. When we set a run we owe it to our members and guests that they come out safely.

The incident on Tuesday should never have happened and definitely should never ever happen again in GH5. I am not pointing fingers at anyone, but please recce the run site prior to setting the run, even if it is a familiar run site. Please do not take things for granted. Furthermore the run site in Puncak Perdana was a relatively less familiar territory to us. It was the first time I had been anywhere near that place.

I would also like to make a point to people who set runs that we are not a marathon running club. Please set runs that the majority will come out by no later than 1 hour and 30 minutes. Only 10% of us wants long long runs. The rest of us just want a good sweat and nothing more. Please do not set mini ball breakers for our regular Tuesday runs. Remember we have guests in our midst nearly every week!

I was having a social event on my friend's boat in Southport on Tuesday and dropped by the run site at 10.30pm as I heard that AK47 and Chili Padi were lost in the jungle.

By the time I got there I already had 7 beers. I had another one as the hare gave a me a can of Carlsberg when I arrived. While driving there I had 2 pee stops. I was going to enjoy a few more beers when Bijis asked me to bring in another search team. I was not prepared and had no proper shoes, torch or water. Fortunately some of you lent me a torch and some bottled water which I handed out to those who went it with me to search for AK47 and Chili Padi. 100 Plus offered me pair of soggy shoes which I rejected as it would have given me blisters especially with no socks. My brand new pair of boat shoes that I wore that night for the boat trip and into the jungle is now history. I bought them only last Saturday and it was the first time I wore them.

Before midnight I went it with Fish Shit, Bonsai, Crazy Cock and GM. We found them at 2am. By 2.30am I had finished my bottled water and was dehydrated. I would have drank my own urine if I had any but I could not even pee a drop, so I filled my empty mineral water bottle from the lake and drank 2 equivalent bottles of the lake water. Praise God that I did not get diarrhea, Salmonella or E.Coli infections. Maybe I might have a nematode or trematode worm crawling out of my anus in the next few days. At the worst end of the spectrum I may get schistosomiasis with liver complications later, but I know Jesus has great plans for my life so I will be here for longer than anyone thinks. No parasite will get rid of me so easily.

The lake (day time)

Mine and Bonsai's hand phone had GPS but the batteries were dead flat by 2.45am. We thought we may have to sleep in the jungle until dawn. Nonetheless, we decided to bash through where the "live hares" could not bash through but back tracked and met the runners. Bashed through we did but suffered many cuts as I have never encountered so many thorns in my life. GM and Crazy Cock had to pick out thorns from each other including their heels as both of them were wearing slippers. We didn't expect they were lost so far inside. Thank God, we got out at 3.30 am as I had an urgent meeting in the morning.

Guys, please remember, life often takes a wrong turn for the worse when we take minor things for granted.
