Run#691 at Kajang Shooting Range

Posted by Incredible Hulk: As I drove to the run site, perhaps some of us were wondering whether to shoot the hare or whoever suggested this 'more distant' than usual run site. After all we are Gasing Hash!, and were there no more hills for us left to climb in the Klang Valley to have to come this far?

When we arrived there were no sounds of gun fire nor any trace that any soul had recently stepped foot on this seemingly abandoned shooting range. It was really wild wild west, with a few shacks that were unkempt. The only shooting was Ben and a few others watering the thick undergrowth behind the bushes.

We could not find the in trail and had to call Sangwat where the belony do we commence this run which eventually got on the way at 6.05pm. And even when we found the in-trail, Sir Pository, Yak and Goldfinger coursed the nearby out-trail and finished via the in-trail, and in the process one of them messed up the last check (their first check) so that none of us actually finished the run proper :-(.

It had obviously rained before the run hence it was tough to course up this slippery track with its steep hills. In fact the last  incline most of us only managed to climb after several attempts including James Bonk. The thick grass we ran through felt like razor blades incising through our shins and thighs. In certain areas hoards of mosquitoes fed off us for their dinner.

Towards the end of the run, rain threatened, the blistering winds sent chills as most of us were stationary at the final summit while the usual leaders were figuring the way back. Those who stopped marveled at the land from atop; this land for centuries upon centuries had remained unbowed and  unbent.

The last check was a lost cause as one of them that did a reverse run had mucked up the check. As the front runners created a path home, the distant thunder sounded and I instinctively feared that a member may have stepped on a WWII mine bomb that somehow remained and was undetonated. Thank God no limbs were lost lol!.  The first runner came out nearly 8pm and most of us came out within the next 15 mins as the "last check" gathered all of us together. It was a tough 6.4km run and V-Power who did the run-rating gave it 9 points.
