Exercise (5)

3. Stretching

Flexibility diminishes with age as muscle fibres shorten. Connective tissue, too, loses it elasticity. Stretching slows these changes and improves flexibility of muscles, tendons, ligaments and joint tissues as well as protects them from injury. Elderly people commonly develop conditions like frozen shoulder or trigger finger as they forget to incorporate stretching in their exercise routine.
