FACTS
This plant has gained popularity as an aphrodisiac and has been placed on the list of protected plants in Malaysia because of rampant unlicensed harvesting from forest reserves.
Traditionally it was used not only for its aphrodisiac properties, but also treatment of ailments like cuts and wounds, skin infection, fever, malaria, high blood pressure, diabetes and generally to increase vitality and stamina.
The aphrodisiac effect of Tongkat Ali is not immediate (if it is, you need to be mindful of adulteration with western drugs). It has to be consumed regularly over time. It works by enhancing the body’s own production of testosterone.
Experiments have also shown that Tongkat Ali possesses cancer-inhibiting properties, anti-fever effects, anti-malaria and antioxidant properties.
The best quality is from a product with 100 percent pure water-soluble Tongkat Ali extract, scientifically processed and encapsulated. Get a brand approved by BPFK as a study by the Universiti Sains Malaysia showed that there are many unregistered brands having an unhealthy level of lead in the product.
