The RUN
Excellent run. Weather was perfect. Distance was 7.2km. Highest point reached was the watch tower inside Taman Pertanian, at 212metres (run site 42m). The terrain was rough and tough. The past weeks' thunderstorm had left many fallen trees that blocked our trail. Dead leaves formed a layer of carpet on the ground. At one point, Loud Chick mistakenly crawled under the trees into some bushes and could not find our paper. Fortunately, Yak (our mystery whip) came to the rescue. For that he later iced Loud Chick!

Front runner, Big Mouth Monkey came back in 1 hr 30 mins. Average runner took 2 hrs. A total of 50 hashers + 1 guest from China completed the run.

There was a slight shower before the circle. Dr Lord later called the circle to order at 9pm. After a brief announcement Yakitiyak went on the box. Loud Chick, the pretty girl from China, MK Lim and Silent Gorilla were iced for various offences, drawing much laughter from the hashers.

Dinner was served at the run site, courtesy of the Hare Sekali Pusing. Beer was free-flowing. Fellowship continued till 11pm when we called it a night. See you guys next Tuesday in Cheras Awana, Pussy Cat's run. On-On!

The Run

Excellent run set by hare, Popeye and his co-hare, Phang Joe. Rating was 9 over 10 pts. Front runner came out in 1 hr 20 mins. Sweeper came back in 1 hr 45 mins.

Circle was called to order by GM Vpower at 9pm. Members were briefed on the Charity run to be held on 31st March 2012. Expected to rope in 500 participants.

After the circle, Popeye served curry laksa for dinner with Heineken beers to keep the fellowship alive. On-on! See you guys at Sekali Pusing's run in Puncak Alam next tuesday.

The RUN

Short and sweet, that's our conclusion of the run. Co-hare, Baby Crocodile was worried someone might get lost in the jungle and spoiled the party. Loud Chick has Christmas Turkey (from Jakes) as finger food ... hmm, I always thought turkey should be main course?? It was drizzling when we finished the run at 6:50pm. Front runner came back at 6:30pm!

Forget about the run, the party was great. Circle was conducted underneath the bus stop canopy. Photos tell the story ...

It was raining cats and dogs as we arrived at run-site. Ignoring the weather, at 6pm sharp, the 50 hashers and guests charged straight into the jungle. The initial climb was steep but short. Even that, more stamina was needed to push ourselves uphill due to the slippery jungle path.

At the 1.9km distance, we reached the peak, a height of 240m. In comparison, run site was already at an elevation of 115m. Though the hills aren't high, the slopes were steep and slippery throughout. The trail led us to the fringe of the North-south Highway and eventually veered towards Desa Park City. After a short ascend, we headed back to run site via the in-trail. Total distance 4.1km. Front runners came back within the hour. Last runner, Sonny came home at 9pm with applause from the hashers ... this is true hash spirit bro!

After the circle, dinner was served on-site. Everyone enjoyed the chicken and roast pork rice followed by plenty of beers. Each runner was also given a backpack. Fellowship continued until 11pm. The RUN
A little shower came and went during the early part of the afternoon and when GM Vpower signaled the start of this run at 6pm, the weather was fine though cloudy.

50 hashers and a few guests followed the familiar trail into the jungle, first heading northwards up a small hill, then westwards towards the suspension bridge. The hare laid her 1st check just before this bridge, but was easily broken by San-wat. From here, the hashers trekked (for the next 15 mins) through rough terrain which was slippery and unpredictable until we emerged out to the usual established footpath. To be continued....

About 100 GH5 members, guest and their family congregated in this quiet coastal town of Tg Sepat for GM Vpower's birthday run, despite Tg Sepat being about 80 km and 90km from Klang and Petaling Jaya respectively. Run site was at the Baywatch restaurant .... but minus the bikini girls we saw on TV.

It was an exceptionally bright and sunny afternoon here although we learned later that KL was experiencing flash flood at that time. Hmm, didn't I told you guys it's worthwhile to pay the Bomoh? GM did!

At 4:00pm sharp, Wild Boar sounded the horn to signal the commencement of the run. For those who have not been here, there are no hills in and around Tg Sepat. The land is flat with vast areas of Oil Palm estates at the opposite side of the main road.

The trail took us through kampung roads, passing by temples, shops, houses and some huge bungalows. It then continued across the main road (Jalan Morib) leading us into the oil palm plantation. Inside, we ran on estate paths which meandered through Orang Asli houses. Front runners were caught at the 2 checks laid by the Sepang hashers who had helped to set the run. The checks were tricky, being back-checks. Crossing back the main road, we passed by the famous "Pau" shop which was packed with customers.

Front runners came back in 54 mins for this 6km run while some slower runners got back pretty late as they took their time to buy "Pau", fruits and drinks along the way!! How to lose weight in hashing, haa?!

We had earlier posted a video to tell our hashers that we had recce the run. It was meant to be a joke but some hashers were looking forward to try out this exciting trail. The Run
Run rating was conducted by Cartoon and he gave 9.5 over 10 points. This high rating speaks for itself as to how well the run was set including the organising of finger food and the On-on dinner at a restaurant in Tmn Connaught. In fact, hare and co-hare did a recce on Monday.

Rain had earlier started at about 3:30pm threatening to derail the run as in the past weeks. It was a heavy downpour but by 5pm it stopped! So future hares, please remember to give our in-house bomoh a big "ang-pow" to keep the rain at bay. That's what Honda Ong did!! (Scribe's note: Recce is important if you guys want to set a good run.)

All of us thought the 5.4km run was excellent. It started with a short climb for a distance of 800 meters, from an altitude of 90 metres (run site) to the first hill at a height of 190m.

The next 500 metres was downhill all the way to the valley, south-east of run site. From here, the ascend began. Turning northwards, the gradient became steeper and steeper but fortunately the trail wasn't very slippery. This climb, for almost 2km, took us right to the peak, popularly known as Station 6 - elevation 427 metres.

Most of us took a short breather here before commencing the descend. By then the sky was dark and in the jungle it was worst. Torchlights had to be used. It was gonna be another 2km before reaching run site. 1st runner came back in 1 hr 10 mins. Time for an average runner to complete this run was 1 hr 45 mins. Good run!

Circle and dinner
With the absence of GM Vpower who was busy attending to a multi-million dollar project (that's according to Piss-stop) and also the absence of Dr Lord, busy with the Bar Council protest, Chili Padi Karen took the box and called the circle to order. Stumpy was iced for not standing up (and playing with his balls) while the Grand-mistress took the box. James Bonk was also iced cos' he quietly "ta-pau" food back for his mother-in-law!

THis run attracted 10 guests with 4 of them from Sunday hash. No wonder On-cash Silent Gorilla was smiling away!

After a short announcement, the party adjourned to Restaurant Tien Sun Tien in Tmn Connaught for dinner. Many thanks to the Hare, Honda Ong, for sponsoring the nice food and beers!! See you guys next week at Connie Cat's run in Sg Long. On-on!

Setting the RUN
It was a wet wet evening. The Hare (AK47) did not pay the "Bomoh", that's why the rain did not stop. The Hare told me he will only pay, if Bomoh is "suck-cessful". Aiyoh, forgot to tell you guys, the Hare is Penang-mari punya-la!

Myself (Hong Kee) and the Hare (Ashok AK47) went in the jungle at 3:30pm to set the trail. GM Vpower, Winne Kimono, PushUp Joanne, BlurBlur Ronnie, PuanSri and a guest Gary also accompanied us. It was dry and sunny then, and we hurriedly set the paper trail, initially up a small hill and then down the biker's track. Here we put a check to slow down the front running bastards! We then tracked down to Penchala Link before an abrupt right-turn that would take the runners up a very steep hill. We did tie a rope at the said right-turn junction to lend assistance to the hashers. Hope this was useful.

Upon reaching the top of this hill, we detoured left for about 100 metres. At the next junction, we took another right-turn to lead the hashers to the summit of Kiara Hills. The journey continued downhill until we reached "Simpang Lima" (a 5-way junction). Here we decided to put a 3rd check for the same purpose which was to slow down the front runners. And I was thinking how to fool them, especially Yakitiyak. Reason: Yak had recced with me last Sat and we took the 3rd exit out. This time we changed to the 4th exit which, we learned later, managed to catch Yak! Bak-kut-Teh Heng eventually found this check out.

It was still dry when we came out to run site at 6:05pm. By then, the hashers had commenced their run.

Think almost everyone thought it was a good run .... run rating was 9 out of 10 points leh!

The Circle
Circle was called to order by GM at 8:40pm as it started to rain. The caterer provided a tent which served its purpose well. Many of us cramped inside this tent while many others held umbrella outside.

After some announcements, Ashok was baptised and officially given the name AK47. On-on dinner was at run site and many thanks to the hare, AK47, who gave away T-shirts to members and guests and also sponsored the dinner, beers and Guinness stouts.

We ended up at 11:15pm and I thought AK47 was a bit tipsy. My car was right behind his and I saw him drove straight inside an Indian kampung before realising the road was too narrow. He then reversed back to the main road. Shhh ... don't tell anyone, ya?!

1. Find your way to the Karak highway
2. Pass through the tunnel
3. Upon exiting the tunnel, drive 5km and take a left turn
4. 30 metres turn right and follow road (through another small tunnel) to the other side of the Karak highway. This is Bkt Tinggi village.
5. At T-junction, turn left (this is the old road to Bentong)

The RUN
It was a wet wet wet afternoon. Fortunately, there were no thunder or lightning. At 6:00pm sharp, GM Vpower gave the on-on sign for the 66 hashers and guests to start the run.

The initial 1.5km was on road before we turned left at Fraser Tower Condo to head uphill into the jungle. Here the agony began. The whole hill was very slippery and some parts were very steep. All in, we must have gone up and down 5 hills. The front runners came back in 1 hour 20 mins with the sweeper Tony Heng clocking in at 2 hours 10 mins. Total distance was 6.9km. No wonder some first-time guests were experiencing cramps and muscle ache but we hope they would recover and come back to join us next week.

Run rating: 6 over 10 points

After a short circle, we adjourned to the nearby Kam Kee restaurant for dinner and beers, courtesy of the hare, Cartoon. Thank you brother! Hope to see you guys next Tuesday at Bukit Tinggi for Soh Kau-Kau's run.

The Run
At 6:00pm sharp, 50 members + 20 guests, set-off blazing the trail despite a slight drizzle. It was up and down 2 small hills before we reached the 1st peak ( see graph). The checks were easily broken.

Then it was downhill all the way for the next 15 mins until we reached a small kampung road (valley). Here we veered right. After about 100 metres, the trail took an abrupt turn to the left. The front runners were quick to climb up the steep slope only to reach a dead-end (falsie). The correct trail was found trailing along a small stream. After 20 metres, we found ourselves going uphill again. This time it was tough, the gradient being steep and slippery. It was still raining. Average runner would take about 20 mins to reach the 2nd peak.

The home trail was easy, going downhill all the way till run site.

It was a short but excellent run and everyone came back hungry.

The circle
The circle was called to order at 9:00pm. After some announcements and punishment meted on some of our hashers .... and after Dave cracked some jokes, dinner was served at run-site.

Members and guests were treated to char-siew, roasted pork, fried chicken and hokkien noodles and of course free-flowing beers and whisky. And forgot to mention, we also celebrated Datin Jessica's birthday! Party ended at 11:30pm and hope to see you guys at Gasing Bird Park next week for Cartoon's run. On-On!

Highest point reached: 324m at the 3.2km mark
Run rating: 8.5 over 10

Good run with many small hills for the initial 2.4km. Thereafter, the ascend to the peak took us 28 mins from a low of 188m to 324m. Then it was downhill all the way to run site for another 35mins. Movement was slow during the final descend as the sky became dark and torch lights were needed to guide the runners back.

Run site, being in a remote area, was in total darkness as there were no lamp posts. Luckily the hare had brought along an energy saving bulb and had connected this to a car battery, and together with LED lights from beerman's Avanza, it provided a romantic atmosphere.

After a short circle and some announcements, chicken rice was served. Beers and wine, courtesy of the Hare, Campari, were free-flowing.

Party ended at 11:30pm and we hope to see you guys and more guests at Left-ball's run next week in Equine Park.

This run on Tuesday 4th Oct 2011 is also known as the "KISS" run. Why? KISS=Keep It Short and Simple. Dr Lord really kept it short cos' he wanted everyone to come back to run site early to "makan" the roast lamb! Ben and the rest of the front runners came back in 30 minutes. However, about 12 hashers came back at 7:30pm ... reason: follow Yong and Goldfinger to the Indian temple (to pray for forgiveness) ... then came back and gotta sit on ice as punishment, thanks to Loud Chick who reported us!

Never mind the run, the fellowship and camaraderie spirit was still intact! Thanks to Dr Lord, Dave, GM V-power, MK and James Bonk, the circle was very lively, filled with laughter and hilarious stupid jokes.

And of course, Dr Lord being a very good host, served us a wide spread of delicious Indian food. Also there were plenty of beers and Guinness stout on stand-by for our hashers and guests. And it's good to see most members, including guests bringing their own cutlery. We are "eco-friendly" mah.......

So keep the candle burning ... we'll see you at Bukit Lagong next Tuesday, 11th Oct for Campari's run.

Concluded Run#660, Ah Ni @ Puncak Alam

The co-hare went in at 5:45pm, heading westward up the granite rocks. The rest of us (totaling 60 runners) started at 6:00pm, hoping to catch him - to be rewarded with free Bak-Kut-Teh for 1 month!

But at 5: 58pm, Ah Ben was already calling for On! On! (for that he later had to sit on ice!).

Highest point: 127m (at the 500m mark)
Lowest point: 15m (at the 5.5km mark)
The live hare, Ah Heng, came back at 6:38pm (53 mins)

Sweeper - Sepuluh Lima - 2 hrs

The 1st check took us 10 mins to break. This spoiled our chances of catching the live hare. Inside Taman Pertanian, at the 1.6km mark, Ben, Steve, Mun took the wrong turn and ended up joining the out-trail paper. For this inadvertent short cut they took, all were disqualified and must buy Bak-Kut-Teh Heng, Bak-Kut-Teh for 1 month!

It was not a very difficult run as the paper trail took us up small hills which were not too steep. In fact, many first time guests completed the run in 2 hours.

After some announcements and punishment meted out to those "disobedient hashers", dinner consisting of Char siew and fried chicken were served on-site. We were expecting bak-kut-teh, but Ah Heng advised not to as that will increase our cholesterol level!

Beers were free-flowing, courtesy of the hare. Fellowship ended at 11:30pm. See you guys next week at Dr Lord's run in Pantai HillPark. On! On!

The run
[I did not finish the run. In fact, nobody (including Ben and Ah Heng) finished the run. So I'll just tell you what happened before the run]

It started as a hazy afternoon at 5pm. 50 hashers and guests were warming up. Expectation was high, what more with co-hare Yakitiyak setting the run for Kelvin. Yak had, a few weeks ago, set a !@#$ run for Klang hash, so his reputation precedes him .....

As the time drew nearer 6pm, the clouds above us had gathered, signaling its intention to drench us with a cold shower. The wind had also picked up.

At 5:55pm, the unexpected sound of siren pierced the air. It came from the golf club, telling golfers to stop play. Within minutes rain came. And it was time to start our run! In true hash spirit, Ben and Ah Heng led the runners into the jungle. As they proceeded into the in-trail, the rain began to pour heavier and heavier. Mother Nature began to protest loudly. Thunder roared and lightning flashed through the skies.

Some hashers who "kia si" (it means afraid or takut in malay) turned back to seek shelter at Wisma Bakti. Me too!

For the next 30 minutes, GM, Simon, Honda Ong, Ah Nee, Blur-Blur, Push-up (all these rich people) waited for the storm to subside .... while watching some hashers turning back.

At 6:30pm we decided to start our run but had chose to trek on the tarred-road instead of jungle. It was a good choice as fallen tree, branches, leaves were strewn everywhere.

Conclusion - nobody finished the run bro! Paper was washed off the track. But somehow, everyone found a different route back to run-site .. well, as the ancient Romans say, "All roads lead to ROME!".

After a short circle called by Dr Lord, and after some announcements and also after Daveraja "punished" those who committed "sins" by putting them on ice and listening to his silly jokes, fried rice and "char koay teow" were given out for dinner. Imported beer was also sponsored by the Hare. Thank you Kelvin although the run was a washed out. But never mind, you can always volunteer to set another run next month .... hehe! See you guys next week in Bukit Subang at Wong Ah Sing's virgin run. On! On!

How's the RUN?
There was a short briefing by GM before the run followed by the singing of our National Anthem "Negara-ku". At 5:55pm (5 minutes early), Ben and Ivan led the runners into the jungle.

This run was gonna be an easy 3.8km trail with treasures (small Malaysian Flags) planted along the route. These flags could be exchangeable for gifts sponsored by Brooks shoes and Jake's Charbroil.

For the initial 1.3km, the trail was very gradual, eventually climbing to a height of 188m. Checks were easy but the hashers moved at a much slower pace hoping to find the treasures. Many front runners missed the flag as these were cleverly hidden a distance from the track and some behind the trees.

We subsequently descended for about a distance of 100m before ascending a small hill. Thereafter it was all the way downhill till we reached run site. Front runners came back in 45 minutes. Average time was 1hr. Sweepers Dr Victor and Kelvin were back in 1hr 30 minutes.

During the circle, many hashers and guests were iced for various "sins" spin-up by Bonsai, Piss-stop and GM. There were much laughter, arguments and amusement but all in good camaraderie spirit. Thereafter, prizes were given out to successful treasure hunters.

Bak-kut-teh was served for dinner but unfortunately those who did not bring their own cutlery missed out on this delicacy. Reminder: Bring own cutlery as caterer has been told not to bring any Styrofoam plates or plastic spoons. If you are bringing guests, please inform them accordingly.

With music from Wild Boar's portable player, the party went on till beers were all consumed ... see you guys at next week's run in Taman Wawasan. Virgin hare is Sonny Chang. Dinner at run-site.

How's the Run?
Run was rated 8.5 points over 10 by Kelvin. Distance covered was 3.5 km. Front runners came back in 58 minutes. Average runners came back in 1 hr 20 minutes. Elevation: Run site 90m, Highest 160m, Lowest 40m. It was like a roller-coaster ride with 4 hills to climb, including the Telekom tower at the 1.8 km mark. After the Telekom tower it was a steep journey downhill to the valley before ascending again to the Watch Tower (at the 2.3 km mark). Not a long run but the co-hare (PokerFace Yong) cleverly set the paper trail along very steep gradients to compensate for the shorter distance.

After a short circle which ended at 9:10pm, the Hare served "Yong Tau Foo" for dinner at the run site with plenty of German beers to go along. Thank you Fennie and best of luck to you.....

Run site elevation: 90 meters above sea level

Highest elevation reached: 299 meters at the 2.6km mark

Lowest elevation: 52m at the 6km mark

Front runners came back in 1 hr 25 mins

Sweepers Baby Crocodile, Cartoon and a few lady guests were back in 2 hrs 10 mins.

The Run (+ story of Jason's accident)

With Phang Joe as the master mind, we would expect a challenging run with tricky checks. True to form, the trail started off with a steep climb immediately as we entered the jungle. It continued uphill for almost 1 km until a height of 273m. It was steep!

We then came upon a wide footpath and gradually descended for a distance of 500meters where the front runners found the 1st check at "Simpang Lima" (Junction with 5 roads). For a good 8 minutes, the front runners scattered all over looking for the next paper. One hit a falsie before Bak-kut-teh Heng finally broke the check. This was a good check, as by then the back-runners had caught up.

Silent Gorilla's run @ Penchala Link at EveryTrail

The paper trail led us northwards towards Penchala link highway, then turned westwards and subsequently ascending up the summit. Terrain was very steep and slippery. It was hard work for the next 400 meters until we arrived at the 299meter summit of this hill. We continued northwards crossing over the Penchala link tunnel. At the 3km mark, the downhill track became very steep and dangerous. Here disaster struck.

Thorny ass Jason slipped and badly injured his left knee. He couldn't walk, but eventually struggled (with help from our comrades) to reach an illegal indon settlement at the 4km mark. We asked for help to ferry Jason out on a motorbike. Fortunately, a kind Indon gentleman with a bike obliged and we left Jason to continue our run.

Following the paper trail, it was gonna be another 2.5km before we reached run site. The bike went the other way out towards Kiara Mas.

Where is Jason?

When we reached run site, Jason was still not back yet! We feared for the worst. We waited and waited and then news came (Jason's wife called Peter) that both Jason and the Indon guy had an accident while on their way out .... apparently, Jason had borrowed a mobile to call her.

We could not contact Jason as he did not carry his handphone, neither does his wife knew what went wrong except that Jason is still alive!

Our sweepers came out at 8:10pm but there was still no sign of Jason!! Everyone tried to speculate what went wrong .... from Hungry Ghost month to .........

20-Aug-2011: The story continues here....

Eventually Jason came back to run-site about 8:20pm. According to him,the jungle track was very narrow and uneven ... it was dark and the ride was very bumpy. Then probably the motorbike must have been too near the edge of the hill and the Indon guy lost control. Both he and Jason dropped into the ravine. Men and bike were flung downhill for at least 20 ft. Jason was in great pain and eventually the Indon guy helped him climbed up, back to the jungle path. He limped all the way, with help from the Indon guy, to Kiara Mas condo. There, he borrowed a mobile from one of the security guards to call his friend living nearby. He later called his wife. His friend came and took him back to run-site while the poor Indon guy went back to the jungle searching for his bike. Ah, .. have you heard of Murphy's Law?? Also this is run number 654. In cantonese it means "Lok Um Sei"

This is really very unfortunate but luckily both survived the fall. Jason told the Indon guy he'll visit him when his knees are better ...

Run #653 - Goldfinger @ Gasing Hill (9th Aug 2011)

The RUN:

This was an average run of 4.4 km. However, the trail was made interesting and exciting with the inclusion of a circular check. At least 20 runners. including the usual front runners (Ben, Ah Heng, Big Mouth & Yak) were caught by this tricky check at the 1.7km mark. Lembek also "kena".

The trail started from 140m elevation, since our cars were parked near to the Telekom Tower. It was downhill for about 400 metres before climbing to a height of 210m. Gradient was steep in some parts. The hare then took us downhill, then uphill again going through a huge circular track before descending to the eastern side of Gasing Hill passing an Indian Temple (this is the smaller of the 2 Indian Temples in Gasing Hill).

From the Indian Temple, we turned onto a tarred-road (Jalan Kubur). As this road name says in Malay, there is a muslim cemetery nearby, though none of us mentioned anything cos now is the Chinese Hungry Ghost month...um .. anyone saw or heard anything strange??

At the 4.1km mark, we then had to climb a steep slope for 300 metres before finishing at the run site. Short, stimulating, lots of climbing in this paper trail - the hallmark of a well-planned run. Front runners came in at 7:10pm while majority of the slower runners came in at 7:50pm.

Circle was conducted by Joint-master, Dr Lord with lots of laughter; and after many "asses" were put on ice, the party moved to the nearby Kam Kee restaurant for dinner (& beers) sponsored by the Hare. Thank you Goldfinger, but still no gold bar for us ah??

After a short circle, dinner was served on-site. Good food, plenty of beers and very enjoyable fellowship under cover of darkness ... no street-lamp!! On! On! See you guys at Goldfinger's run in Gasing.

The RUn: The initial 1.3km was uphill all the way until the Telekom tower. Thereafter, it was downhill, heading East towards Kampung Pantai Dalam then North until we reached the 3km mark. From here, we climbed another hill before reaching the tar road and back to run site. Most runners came back in 1 hr 30 mins.

Good run with 2 checks and basically over quite easy terrain. Well done Goldfinger, Hi-Low & Kangaroo!!

On! On! dinner was at the nearby restaurant before the party adjourned to Kangaroo's house ....

Hills are not extremely high, peaking at 147m. The hare took us south-west deep into the oil palm estate until the fringes of the jungle before heading northwards and back onto the estate road. Lots of running track.
Run very well set with 7-8 smaller hills in-between.
Dr Victor twisted his ankle and turn back after 1km assisted by Lembek (Wild Boar got jealous) . Popeye and his dog short-cut back. Ashok and his son landed up at the wrong Harimau Hash run site. The Harimaus thought both were their guests and gave them free beers! Push-up and GM finished the whole run and lost 2kg ... well, hopefully at the correct places, hehe.

As for Stumpy, he'll hash at his own pace and will also short-cut back.

Bak-Kut-Teh Heng was @#$! "stone" after the run ... hope he is ok by now ....

Hong Kee: Good run but short ... luckily the slopes were steep and challenging with the valley at 50m above sea level and the highest point at 125m. This trail was set at the 11th hour with no proper recce. We encourage future hares to conduct 1 or 2 recces before the actual day in order to plan a good trail. Gasing Hash Loses a Great Hasher!!

Today, 14th June 2011 marked a sad chapter in GH5. Our beloved hasher, BengKok, who had ran with us for the last 4 years suddenly left without saying goodbye! The hills of so many sites were familiar to him and he was ever so enthusiastic to take up the challenge every Tuesday, come rain or shine. But GOD has called him to be HIS brethren this evening at Kinrara Puchong. He died while doing his most enjoyable past-time, hashing. We all miss him fondly, for he was one who was loved by all of us..... a true friend and a good hasher! May GOD Bless his Soul ........

Our Deepest Condolences go to BengKok's family, his wife and children.

About 50 members and guests descended upon this little fish pond restaurant tucked inside the Sri Haneco Industrial estate. Surrounded by hills and fish ponds, this run site appears "cool" and also has good parking and bathing facilities. A light shower welcomed the hashers and at 6 pm sharp, Wild Boar sounded his air horn and led the runners into the jungle.

Run can be described as "Light & Easy" as the uphill climb was gradual peaking at 216 metres above sea level (run site 50m). It would have been more fun if the hare and co-hares were to take us further up to the summit which stood at 300m. Nevertheless, all ended up well and the hare, Jackie and our other hasher Steve Lee were given new hash names ... CNY run in Genting Highlands

Run Site

This was a fantastic run site with ample parking just outside the Mushroom Farm Restaurant. The air on this cloudy afternoon was fresh, wind chilling, mist flowing by occasionally and of course our in-house bomoh did his job by stopping the rain!

Lion to bring good health and prosperity!

Roads in Genting are always brightly lighted up and the restaurant's own spotlights enabled us to have our circle inside their compound. Tables, chairs, cooler boxes and other miscellaneous items were also available for our usage.

The Run

The start of our CNY run..

Run Master Ben had, in the morning, gathered his team to set this run. Armed with GH5 hash papers, red logo for long run and blue for short, they went in promising to set a blazing trail. They have been forewarned to do a proper job as we have lots of guests from other very "keng" chapters joining us today. If run screwed up .. we'll @#$! all the hare and co-hares ... this is hashing mah!

Prior to the commencement of this annual GH5 run, a lion troupe was on hand to perform and specifically to bless all our members and guest with the best of luck this Chinese New Year. And of course, CNY events were never complete without Fire crackers. At 3:55pm, these were lighted to "fire" up the occasion before runners set off at 4pm sharp.

Pitcher Plant

First World Hotel & Communication Towers

Initial trail was downhill, long and winding on tarred-road. As the road approaches a bend, the paper trail took a left turn uphill on rocky surface. We trekked for a good 10 minutes. Subsequently, it was downhill along laterite path with light vegetation. Here, First World Hotel and the communication towers could be seen at a distance.

The Long March...

This was a very long stretch, down and up, and finally we emerged onto a proper tarred-road. Here the trail forked - left trail being short run while the right trail took them all the way up to the communication tower.

Ada Hantu sini!!

I happened to be in the "long run" group and we pushed upslope along yet another winding road. Then off-road again, this time taking a right turn downhill. Here we thought was the best part of the run. We passed by 2 blocks of abandoned apartments. With the fog partly shrouding these uncompleted buildings, a "ghostly" feel was unavoidable. We checked our watch and noticed it was already 5:30pm. We went behind the apartments before climbing up a short steep slope and back onto the road again. We paced ourselves, knowing it's a long run (10 km) and just before reaching the tower, we veered off-road to the right and into a jungle. And true to what the hare had promised us ... "wah-lau", we were rewarded with the sight of a very scenic "enchanted" forest. In fact, one of the Mantin hashers described it as almost similar to the forest in the Lord of The Ring movie. Yup, it was really beautiful, not one to be seen in our weekly runs.

The wet jungle path was very narrow and at times appeared like a maze. We snaked upwards slowly, everything being wet and covered with moss. Then the suffering began! Going downhill was no easy task brother! Luckily with the help of some ropes, we were able to slowly lowered ourselves down, almost vertically! But it was an experience to cherish! Finally we exit onto the tarmac where the Celcom tower stood majestically beside the road. By then, our hands and shoes and socks were covered with black earth. From here to run site was downhill all the way, but it was gonna be another 2.5 km!

Aiyoh yoh, it was a long but enjoyable run. The front runners clocked in within 2 hours while sweeper Baby Monkey and Jerry 100-plus (who later became our Choy-San-Yeah) came in at 7pm.

After the circle, we had our On! On! Dinner at the Mushroom Farm restaurant. There were free flow of beers and wine and to top it, our GH5 sent in a "Choy-San-Yeah" to bring better luck and prosperity to those present. Each person was given an "Ang-Pow" with a toto Power jackpot ticket. Dinner ended 10:30pm and hope our guests joined us again in our future runs. On! On!

RUN SITE

Our club has not been here for more than 2 years since the last run organised by Hi-Lo. The road leading into this run site is now a dual-carriage way though Broga town itself is still a sleepy hollow except week-ends and the chinese temple festivals. The hills are enchanting, surrounding Broga town and air here can be as fresh as you could imagine.

The RUN

The hare took us to the southern part of Broga hill. The footpath here is well laid and the ascend in certain part can be quite steep. All in we tracked 3 hills. In between, there were deep valleys to descend, forcing runners to hold tightly onto rocks and small trees. At one part, the hill was quite barren due to clearing by the rubber tappers.

There were 4 checks which were cleverly set. The 1st and 2nd were easily tackled by the FRB (front running bastards!). The 3rd check had some FRBs running the wrong way and this helped to close the gap between the fast and slower runners. The highest point, which is at the back of the chinese temple is about 260 meters above sea level. In comparison, the Northern Broga hill could rise to more than 400 meters above sea level.

As Broga is so far away from civilisation, the hare set a short run this time to have an early dinner. Front runners came in within the hour. Sweeper King Trucker and finally Stumpy and his pretty companion arrived at run site at 7.30pm.

CIRCLE

Circle was called to order by GM V-power at 8:30pm. The next 3 runs were announced. TanSri also briefed members and guests on the CNY run which is scheduled on 22nd Jan @ Genting Highlands. Details will be posted on this blog later. Last count, we have 180 pax for this run with Carlsberg sponsoring our T-shirts.

Sir Pository sadly informed members on the passing of "Phua Chu Kang" a young 33 year old Hazard hasher in a tragic accident a few days ago. There was a minute's silence as a mark of respect.

Doug conducted the run rating ... he must have been impressed as he gave 9.5 points ... but someone told me he did not complete the run!?

Run Site
This is the 1st time in recent years GH5 ever had a run in Ara Damansara. This location is now a satellite township with the running trail located towards the northern part. Parking and lighting here is excellent, right in front of LaLa Chong Restaurant.

The Run
At 6pm sharp with horn blasting to signal the start, 60 members and 55 guests (think this is the highest recorded in any run!) headed northwards, crossing the main road, cutting through Ara Damansara housing estate, before entering the perimeter of Tropicana Resort.

Along the trail, we met a herd of cows and some anglers fishing at the pond. The paper trail then led us inside the rubber estate. Here the gradient is undulating, not steep by any standard for the hashers. This trail is good for strong runners as they can literally run/jog all the way back to run site.

As we pushed on ... some 1 hour later ... Kota Damansara condos and industrial buildings, with their bright lights shining could be seen on our right ... hey, we were still very far away from run site!! Man, this is a huge rubber estate!!

This is the time of the year when the sky gets dark early and we had to reach out for our torch lights. As we moved on, we could see the Subang Airport control tower's beacon ahead of us. We were then running along the big retention pond and somewhere along that stretch, people were shouting from across ... "fai ti lah, fai ti lah". At the end of this footpath, we made a left "U-turn" and unexpectedly we saw a group of hashers standing and talking, with Phang Joe (the co-hare and master-mind for this run) sitting comfortably in his chair. Phang Joe must be enjoying himself watching everyone of us being tortured with this long long run! Anyway, he advised it's gonna be another 3 km back to run site and transport would be provided by King Trucker. Some of us decided to jog, while the rest waited to be ferried back.

Our group got back at 8:15pm and slowly but surely everyone came home safely with Big Mouth Monkey and Baby Monkey (the Monkey family) sweeping from the rear. All in all, it was an excellent run ... 13km ONLY MAH, @#$%!

A favourite run site of many hashers, especially our Hare, Cocky. Easy access, good parking, good lighting, nice hills to climb....

The Run

At 6:00 pm sharp, GM V-power sounded the On! On! call. An estimated 60 runners, guests and members, started the run from the tarred road. Halfway, the trail turned right at the water tank into the jungle. A short trek downhill, we reached the other side of the jungle fringe.. cross a small tarred road and entered into another jungle trail. We encountered the 1st check here but was easily sorted out by the FRB=front running bastards.

The trail snakes it's way through rubber trees and finally out crossing another tarred road before entering the edge of Kiara equestrian park. We continued running along the horse tracks and northwards until Penchala link.

It was a rewarding sight at the top of the hill overlooking the Penchala link toll plaza. A clear view of KiaraMas condos, Desa Hartamas, Mont Kiara with the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower at the horizon.

We then passed by the famous mega-sized bungalow. From here the paper led us back into the jungle. This grueling uphill climb (at least 45-degree slope) took almost 15 minutes and longer for slower runners. By then it was 7:30pm and pitched dark inside. Torch-lights had to be used. (Reminder: pls bring your own torch-lights as we are experiencing shorter day-light at this time of the year).

Finally it was round the western side of Kiara hill passing by the Taman Tun Park and eventually emerging out onto the tarred road leading back to run site. Our group came out at 8:15pm. It was an excellent long run!! Thanks to the Hare and co-Hares for the effort...

The Circle
GM V-power called the circle to order at 9:15pm. The next 2 runs were announced, especially her own run next Tuesday ... her birthday run la!! Dr Lord also made some celebration run announcements. A few hashers and guests were put on ice for some "offence" committed earlier during the run.

Circle ended at 9:40pm with many thanks to the Hare for the run site food and beers.

Run #615 James Bonk's Run @ Penchala Link

Run Site

GH5 has not been running here for quite a while. Parking is excellent although the sound from the Penchala link Highway below can be noisy at times. The hills here forms part of a huge forested area running from Taman Tun in the south right up to the North-South highway at the northern end. The Penchala Link Highway separates the hills.

Today the Hare and his very clever co-hares took us up north towards the North-South Highway. This is a secondary forest with thin undergrowth and rubber trees growing randomly. For comparison, car park is about 80 metres above sea level and the peak at the north-western part is slightly more than 200 metres.

The RUN

At 6pm sharp, GM V-power signaled the commencement of our 615th run since the founding of GH5 in 1990. The 1st part was tar road through the "kampung". As it was the eve of "Hari Raya Haji", the muslim celebration marking the conclusion of pilgrimage to Mecca, local folks could be seen busy preparing for this occasion. The tar road then led us up a very steep slope, then veering right it was up another slope to the fringe of the jungle. As usual the front runners, Prince Charming Ben, Big Mouth Monkey Derrick and Mad Dog led the runners, numbering 50, into the forest.

The gradient here was steep, and thanks to the rain earlier, the track was soggy and slippery. Here the Hare laid his 1st check but was easily taken care of by the front runners. (By the way, in hash, front runners are also known as FRB=front running bastards!).

We trodded up for about 10 minutes before finding some relief going downhill. Here we ran into the 2nd check point, but within minutes the correct trail was found and paper connected for the benefit of the back runners.

We followed the trail until we reached a small stream and looking across, we could sight the next hill which appeared awesome. True to expectation, this uphill trail took us right up to the peak (200 metres) and an average runner would easily take 15 or 20 minutes to reach. Everyone hauled and pushed themselves up, some needing stoppage time ... but eventually found respite when the FRB shouted "checking". The uppermost of this trail was a T-junction. Ben went left while Mad Dog turned right. It was Mad Dog who found the paper trail again and shouts of "On! On!" echoed through the jungle.

It was a long downhill this time and we had to track next to the perimeter electric fencing of Country Heights Damansara. Yes, the iron railings have electric wires on top and barbed wires at the bottom!! We looked at each other, each one having his own thought of how to skin the Hare when we got back to run site!!

We reached a small tar road which led us uphill again! Wah, this was a good run, man ... but the sky was getting darker and darker. Torched lights had to be used and we found ourselves next to the electric fence again!! Bloody @#$%, this Hare really knows how to set his run!

Uphill then downhill .. we finally reached the main Penchala Link "kampung" road. Most of us jogged along this tar road until we reached the run site.

We thanked the Hare and his co-hare for this fantastic run as they had done their recce well. Front runners came in at 7:15pm while the sweepers, King Trucker Khoo and Baby Monkey (and his 2 young boys) got back at 8:20pm.

Circle

Circle was called to order by GM V-power at 8:45pm. Invitational runs were announced. James Bonk who is also the Hash Butler was asked to take "leave" this evening as he was the Hare. The Butler's job was taken over by Soh Mui Mui and Hi-LiLi who were actually former butlers under the reign of Piss-stop. Aiyah, they lost their job together with Piss-stop ... (That's why they say, don't work for the wrong BOSS! HeHe!).

Dr Lord and Hot Legs were iced for being late .. reason, because mating season.

Baby Monkey's 2 boys were also iced .. little back-side must experience this too!

As Piss stop went off to look for the "satay" man, King Trucker, me (Hong Kee), Ben and GM herself had to tell some jokes .. just to fill up the time.

Talking of the "satay" man, he was supposed to be at run site @ 6pm and the satay was to be our finger food. For dinner we were to get claypot chicken rice. Now, satay-man and claypot-man cannot find run site! So looks like, we'll gonna get satay for dinner and claypot chicken rice for supper! And all this arrangement was by Piss-stop, the 20% man!

Steve, our regular guest, conducted the run rating. Baby monkey came on next for some air time followed by Dr Lord who iced the Hare (no proper Hash sign and no satay for members), Lambo (for talking), Mr World and Push-up (for talking about love during the circle), Baby Crocodile (because long time never sit on ice), Big Mouth monkey (for saying B.E.E.R.= Beginning Enjoy, Ending Regret. It should be Beginning Enjoy, Ending Romance mah, aiyah!), Soh Kau-Kau (dreaming) and Piss-stop our 20%-man.

Finally the satay-man and claypot man came and we wrapped up the circle at 9:30pm. We thanked the Hare for a wonderful run and of course for the food and beers .. On! On! See you next run with Jason Lee at Gasing Bird Park.

Run Site

This small hill, surrounded by Bkt Jalil Highway in the North, Putrajaya Highway in the West and Taman Bukit Serdang/Seri Kembangan in the East, has become a popular Hash run site in recent times. There are various parking area, but for this run, Rose Chan decided to use the commercial hub near Lek Lek Restaurant. Very near to the main road and plenty of noise pollution ... from the traffic and from the furniture shop blasting disco music throughout the night ....

The run

At 6pm sharp, GM V-power sounded the horn for 60 members and guests to begin the run. We first had to pass through a construction site, a water tank and a fish pond before the hill came into sight. Ascending a steep slope, we headed westward towards the Putrajaya Highway. As the runners approached the peak (about 140 meters above sea level) the sound of traffic from the highway became louder and louder.

We then trekked downhill for about 10 minutes before reaching the fringe of the jungle overlooking Putrajaya Highway. This part of the hill is undulating with rubber trees along the footpath. For the next 30 minutes the paper trail took us northwards along the "pagar" of the Putrajaya Highway. At the end of this trail, we had to veer right and then up a small hill-lock. By then it was almost 7:15pm and the sky was dark.

Holy smoke .. at the top of this hill, a beautiful sight awaited us ... a lovely panoramic view of the whole Serdang/Seri Kembangan township sprinkled with stunning night lighting. We stayed for a few minutes to admire the view as there are not that many occasions to experience this.

The home trail took us down a very steep slope, then part of a newly constructed tar road. Most of us were jogging and walking and talking until we reached the run site. First runner, Prince Charming Ben came in at 7:20pm. Last runner with Stumpy sweeping from the rear clocked in at 8:15 pm. Thanks to the Hare and co-hare, it was a simple but a long enjoyable run ... On! On!

Circle
Circle was called to order at 8:34pm. The next 3 runs were announced. Sir Pository was also given some air-time. He talked of his experience in the recently concluded Mekong Hash run. and he urged members to participate next year. Also to take note is the coming annual Pub Crawl organised by Full Moon Hash, 28th Nov, damage RM70.

Circle ended 9:30 for On! On! dinner at the nearby Lek Lek Restaurant ... many thanks to the Hare, Rose Chan for the food and beers and Whisky and Brandy and ... ok-la, see you guys next week at Golden Mei's run, Pantai Hill Park.

Run # 612 - Bonsai @ Taman Wawasan, Puchong

Run Site

We just had a run here in Sept (Jungle Man). This hill forms part of the Ayer Hitam forest reserve which is currently managed by University Putra Malaysia. The peak is merely about 200 metres above sea level. (Car park is already 60 metres) but the slopes are pretty steep.

The Run by Hong Kee
At 6pm sharp, GM V-power led some 50 hashers and guests into the forest. The in-trail was different from Jungle Man's run in Sept. Lallangs covered the first part of the trail until we reached the jungle fringes. From here we started the 1st climb, up steep slopes, snaking our way between small trees. Everyone worked tirelessly to reach the top, but @$#% .... we found out that it was a falsie. Everyone blamed Phang Joe!!

We reversed, turned left and headed down towards a small valley. Then it was uphill for the next 10 minutes ... a bit of flat land and again uphill. A few lady runners had to pause for short breaks and Mr World was at hand to supply "minyak cap kapak". He always carry a small bottle along just in case he himself may need it.

The trail continued along natural footpath ... much easier to trek this time. Downhill we went until we reached a small stream ... and obviously when we crossed to the other side, it was again uphill.

Then all of a sudden when we approached a small lake, we saw MK Lim talking to some uniformed personnel. MK asked if there were still back runners. Apparently, the forest rangers had came in a 4x4 vehicle and motorbikes to halt our entry into their restricted area of this forest reserve. We were not aware of such restrictions of course! What the @#%$^!

Anyway, they allowed us to continue on condition we use the 4x4 track to get out of this area. We then proceeded as instructed ... straight onwards and subsequently turned right at the T-junction. For 15 minutes we trekked and all this while the sky was getting darker and darker. Torch lights had to be used. Halfway, the front runners, Ah Heng, Ben, Big mouth and gang were seen coming from the opposite direction. We were told that the end of this track leads to Saujana Puchong.

Everyone then turned back and with animal instinct, the front runners found a trail back into the jungle. By then it was already past 7:30pm. There were no papers on the 1st part of this new-found trail as the Rangers had picked them up earlier. Some 200 metres uphill, the front runners found our GH5 papers again and shouts of On! On! could be heard.

It was uphill, downhill, uphill and finally down a gradual slope back to run site. Front runners came in at 8:10pm. By 8:40pm all runners were back, or was it?? It was pointed out that Ah Yong, Peter, Iron Lady, Baby Crocodile, Silent Gorilla, were nowhere to be seen.

Then at 8:45pm, a small lorry drove in to run site and standing at the back cargo area were our GH5 "tai kors". They did not follow the front runners back into the jungle thinking that since there were no papers, this could be a wrong path! These "tai kors" went back to the 4x4 track and ended up on the main road of Saujana Puchong. There they took a bus, paying RM1 each, to Tesco Puchong. At Tesco, they flagged down a small lorry driven by an Indian man, paid him RM10 and the driver took them back to run site. And the real "tai Kor" was actually Peter, for he was the only person with money!

Circle was called to order at 9pm. GM V-power announced the next 3 runs.

Stumpy was iced as his guests did not pay guest fees. Poker face was given recognition when he correctly told the circle the next 3 run sites and the respective hares.

Hi-Lo reminded everyone to bring their own cutlery as we are an eco-hash club.

Ah Choy Kor was iced for talking on his mobile after he felled on the rocky area.

The circle ended at 9:40 pm for On On dinner at the Hee Lai Ton restaurant. We thank the Hare for his generosity ... free T-shirt, free beers and free dinner!!

Run # 611 Stumpy's run @ Kinrara, Puchong

Run Site
We have already ran here a few times this year, and each time we could notice the progress in housing developments in this area. Today, some of the shophouses have already been occupied and the road had been tarred up to the jungle fringes. Let's hope the forested area remains forested as this is, perhaps, the last green-lung in Puchong.

The Run

At 6.00pm sharp, GM V-power signaled to enter the jungle. With the usual front runners already being the co-hares, MK Lim and Yong became the flag-bearers. The familiar in-trail took us across a muddy stretch with overgrown lallangs and thereafter up a small hill. The climb was about 10 minutes, gentle in certain part and cutting deeper into the jungle as the hashers reached the peak.

The paper trail then took us left down-hill till we came to a small stream. Many members took a U-turn here, fearing that the co-hares, being very strong runners, would probably set a long run.

As expected, the co-hares took us uphill again. The gradient here was steeper and the slope slippery, not surprising after a downpour this afternoon.

We had to endure 2 more hills, although not too tough, before passing some torn down sheds. Following the paper trail, we turned left again and eventually joined the earlier in-trail to take us out of the jungle.

1st runner came in at 7:15pm and sweeper King Trucker came home at 7:45pm. Overall it was fun and not too punishing for our members. Great job, Ben, Ah Heng and Tony!! On! On! And all this while the Hare, Stumpy, was busy at the car park frying Koay Teows for our brothers and sisters ...

The Circle
Circle started at 8:30pm with GM V-power on the box. Our virgin guest brought along by King Trucker was introduced to the members. The next 2 runs were announced. A few "sinful" members and guests were subsequently put on ice!

Yee Mei was then officially given a hash name, and guess what ... Lady's Finger... this being in recognition of her culinary skills. You guys can expect more food in the near future, ya....

As a reminder of the importance of the English Language, the hare, Stumpy, was asked to explain in English how he "Chay Koay Teow". And to add spice to this, Silent Gorilla was asked to be his English teacher. Click on video to appreciate the standard of their English ....

Run#609 Hi-Lo's run @ Cheras Awana

Run Site

Cheras Awana has been a favorite run site for many Hash Chapters, more so with our Hare Hi-Lo. This hill is known as "Ah Pak San" in cantonese and stretches up north joining the Main Range.

The parking area, at 100 metres above sea level, is excellent although the street lamp wasn't working this evening. The peak of this hill, at the north-eastern region, is about 400 metres. General gradient is steep but many man-made footpaths had already been laid for easier trekking.

The Run

In the absence of GM V-power, our joint-mistress, SongBird flagged the hashers off at 6pm sharp. It was still drizzling (after a heavy thunderstorm) but our members and guests numbering 50 were not deterred. Prince Charming Ben led the pack into the forest.

Initially it was a gradual up slope, then onto a stretch of undulating (up and down) ground. After criss-crossing a number of streams we reached the foothill of station 3, and then it was another 15 minutes of non-stop uphill climb before we reached the 1st check. The front runners, Ben, Bak-kut-teh Heng, Big mouth monkey and Yakitiyak spread out to look for papers.

But alas, Ben, Big Mouth and Yak found papers on the right side of the check while Ah Heng and Ah Yong found another paper trail on the left. There were shouts of "On On" from both sides. Me (Hong Kee), Jerry 100-plus, TanSri, Silent Gorilla and a few others followed Ben's trail while the rest of the runners followed Ah Heng and Yong. This led to 2 groups on different trail, something which had never occurred before...

Apparently, Ben pursued the correct trail while Ah Heng had followed the paper trail which the Hare had set a day before. We eventually found out that the Hare, Hi-Lo, had decided at the 11th hour to re-route the trail due to bad weather condition but inadvertently left some papers which the 2nd group found and which they dutifully followed to the waterfall and beyond...... Dapat bonus mah ... extra 1 hour run only!!

Whichever trail the runners took, all of them had to struggle uphill till they reached station 5 and 6 and then trekked downhill to run site. Front runners came home at 7pm and the 2nd group led by Bak-kut-teh Heng came in at 8:30pm. Anyway, all ended well as the 2nd group were complimented for enjoying a "bonus" run... aiyah, i wish i was in the 2nd group ....

Circle

Circle was called to order at 9:15pm by joint-mistress, Songbird. The next 3 runs were announced, followed by the introduction of virgin guests (1st timers). Members (especially MK, Piss-stop and TanSri) had a merry time interviewing the 2 lady guests who apparently are still not married!

Ronnie Blur-Blur conducted the run rating (8.5 pts) and thereafter the Hare, Hi-Lo thanked members and guests for joining the run. Members in return thanked the Hare for an interesting run and for generously sponsoring the drinks and food at the Jade village restaurant in Connaught.

Run # 608 Buffalo Gum Simon's Run

Run Site
This is an excellent run site with hills forming part of the Main Range. Housing developments have reached the fringes of this hill, among the many are Bandar Cheras Mahkota and Bandar Sg Long. Run site car park is about 80 meters above sea level while the peak of this hill (there are many more further up north) at 320 meters. The jungle itself is relatively untouched as not many footpaths could be seen.

The Run
At 6pm, the joint-mistress, Songbird, signaled the start of this run. (GM V-power and Joint-Master King Trucker are now in India ....). As usual Bak-kut-teh Heng and Big Mouth Monkey led the way. The in-trail took us upslope crossing grassland full of lallangs. After struggling for about 10 mins, the paper trail led us into the forest, first downslope then up a slight gradient. Next we arrived at the 1st check which was rather confusing with papers strewn almost everywhere. Nevertheless, the front runners were able to put the pack on track and the trail continues down hill.

Subsequently it was all the way uphill and this time it was like a never ending story ... the trail winds up the steep slope, through deep vegetation, then through rocky terrain and then cutting deep into the forest before ending at the peak (full of ferns), which was almost 280 meters high.

The Hare's paper then took us down a very steep slope which was also very tricky. At the bottom of that slope, we had to do a quick turn to the left as the edge of the ravine was merely another 5 steps away. The plunge could be easily 450 ft to the bottom. Thank goodness, the front runners were swift to caution those behind.

By then it was almost 7:10pm, but still bright. The trail continued downwards all the way until it joined the tar road and back to run site - this stretch being about 4 km. Everyone enjoyed the run with the front runners clocking 1hr 20 mins. Sweeper Hi-lo came in at 8pm to ensure everyone was safely home.

The Circle

Circle was called at 8:45pm by Joint-Mistress Songbird. The next 3 runs were announced and Songbird gave a short report on what's happening in Chennai, India where 9 of our members are currently there.

Big-mouth Monkey was put on ice as he, till now, did not know what position Songbird is holding in GH5.

True to form, Piss-stop was again on ice for talking ... i think talking nonsense this time! Run rating was conducted by Mad Dog. Later, the virgin guests (1st timers) were introduced to the circle. Mystery whip, Yakitiyak put Pussy Cat and Loud Chick on ice for some "serious" offence.

The circle ended at 9:30pm for On On dinner in Balakong. We must thank the Hare, Simon, for generously sponsoring all drinks and food, both at run site and at the restaurant in Balakong. Cheers bro!!
